I totally agree with Jeff, when I look at my photos, I always end up over critiquing my own work, when non-photographers look at them, they don't notice the things i notice until I point them out. I don't think the photo above is over saturated... or saturated at all. You can get an image like that if you shoot with high-end equipment and expose the shot correctly. From what I saw, your shot was the most technical and well exposed.. good job and congrats on winning

RAW file formats give you the raw image, meaning that it is an uncompressed image. jpeg and other formats compress the original image limiting how large the picture can be enlarged and other editing features. I just got a d700 and it is fun.
